What is Mana Spire?
Mana Spire is an idle (or incremental) game about a wizard who starts with a single floor, an empty hall and a crystal orb humming with raw magic. Every click on the orb channels a little mana. Mana pays for staff who channel it for you, staff unlock upgrades, and upgrades make the numbers climb faster until you can afford the next floor of the tower. The game is built around that satisfying loop of small, steady improvements, with a few decisions that really matter: what to buy next, when to save up for a floor, and when to tear it all down and ascend for a permanent bonus.
It is a short-session game by design. You can play actively for ten minutes, close the tab, and come back hours later to a "welcome back" summary of what your tower earned in the meantime. There are no ads inside the game, no energy bars and nothing to buy with real money.
How to play
- Channel mana. Click or tap the orb on the left. Each click adds mana; the number above the orb shows how much one click is worth right now.
- Hire tower staff. Open the Tower list and buy an Apprentice for 15 mana. Every staff member produces mana every second, even when you are not clicking. Each extra copy of the same staff costs 15% more than the last, so spreading purchases across several kinds is usually cheaper.
- Buy upgrades. The Upgrades tab fills up as you go. Staff upgrades double the output of one kind of staff and appear when you own 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100 of it. Click upgrades make the orb stronger, and global upgrades raise everything at once.
- Build the next floor. At 8,000 mana you can build Floor II, the Arcane Sanctum, which unlocks three new kinds of staff and adds +25% to all production. Floor III, the Astral Spire, costs 10 million mana, unlocks the strongest staff and adds another +50%.
- Catch the Mana Wisps. Every minute or two a small fairy drifts across the screen. Click it before it leaves for either a 30-second ×7 surge of all production or an instant lump of mana.
- Ascend. Once a run has earned 2 million mana, the Ascend tab lets you reset your tower in exchange for Arcane Essence. Each essence you ever earn gives +10% production forever, and essence can also be spent on permanent perks.
Your tower staff, floor by floor
There are nine kinds of staff, three per floor. The numbers below are the starting price and the base output of one unit before any upgrades or bonuses, taken directly from the game's rules. Each one is roughly ten times stronger than the one before it, and roughly ten times more expensive, so the newest staff member is almost always worth buying the moment you can afford a few.
| Floor | Staff | Starting cost | Mana / sec each |
|---|---|---|---|
| I · Apprentice Hall | Apprentice | 15 | 0.25 |
| I · Apprentice Hall | Owl Familiar | 110 | 1.5 |
| I · Apprentice Hall | Crystal Ball | 1,200 | 11 |
| II · Arcane Sanctum | Alchemy Lab | 13,000 | 55 |
| II · Arcane Sanctum | Enchanted Library | 140,000 | 320 |
| II · Arcane Sanctum | Rune Golem | 1.6 M | 1,900 |
| III · Astral Spire | Star Observatory | 22 M | 12,000 |
| III · Astral Spire | Dragon Roost | 330 M | 75,000 |
| III · Astral Spire | Portal Nexus | 5.1 B | 480,000 |
Ascension, Arcane Essence and perks
Ascending is the big decision in Mana Spire. It resets your mana, staff, upgrades and floors (achievements and statistics stay), and pays out Arcane Essence based on how much mana you earned in that run. The formula is a cube root: the first essence takes 2 million mana, 2 essence takes 16 million, 3 takes 54 million and 10 essence takes 2 billion. Because of that curve, the first few essence come quickly and later ones take much longer runs.
Every essence you have ever earned counts toward a permanent +10% bonus to all production and clicks. Spending essence on perks does not lower that bonus, so there is no reason to hoard it. The eight perks are:
| Essence | Perk | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Arcane Memory | Start every run with 10 Apprentices and 3 Owl Familiars. |
| 2 | Swift Fingers | Clicks are 3× stronger, forever. |
| 3 | Dream Weaving | Offline earnings go from 50% to 100% and the cap from 8 to 24 hours. |
| 5 | Goblin Bargain | All staff cost 10% less. |
| 6 | Wisp Lure | Mana Wisps show up twice as often. |
| 8 | Master Architect | Keep Floor II after you ascend. |
| 12 | Self-Casting Wand | The orb clicks itself 5 times per second. |
| 25 | Starseed | All production ×3, forever. |
Tips and strategy
Early game: the first ten minutes
- Click a lot at the start. Before you own staff, the orb is your only income, and the first click upgrade (Focused Channeling, ×2) is cheap.
- Buy your first Owl Familiar as soon as you can. At 1.5 mana per second it pays for itself much faster than a sixth or seventh Apprentice.
- Grab every "Primer" staff upgrade. Each one doubles a whole kind of staff for only ten times that staff's starting cost.
- Save up for Floor II at 8,000 mana instead of spending everything on more Apprentices. The +25% and the Alchemy Lab are worth the wait.
Mid game: Arcane Sanctum to Astral Spire
- Use the x10, x25 and Max buttons once prices grow. Watch for the 10, 25 and 50 thresholds: reaching them unlocks a new doubling upgrade.
- Global upgrades such as Ley Line Tap and Moonwell (+50% each) multiply everything, so they usually beat another single staff purchase.
- When you are saving for something big, keep an eye out for wisps. The lump-sum blessing is a quarter of your banked mana (capped at ten minutes of production), so it is worth more the more you have saved.
- If you plan to step away, buy staff right before you leave. Offline earnings are based on your production per second at the moment the game last saved.
Late game: ascending well
- Your first ascension is best taken at around 2–3 essence. Spend the first point on Arcane Memory; starting with 10 Apprentices and 3 Owls skips the slowest part of every run.
- Aim for Swift Fingers and Dream Weaving next. Stronger clicks speed up the start of each run, and full-speed offline earnings for 24 hours make the game truly idle.
- A good rule of thumb is to ascend when the next run would at least double your total essence. Going from 3 to 6 essence turns +30% into +60%, and each run gets noticeably faster.
- Master Architect (8 essence) keeps Floor II after ascending, and Self-Casting Wand (12) clicks the orb for you. Starseed at 25 essence is the long-term goal: ×3 production forever.
- Collect achievements along the way. Each of the 15 trophies adds +2% production, and they survive every ascension.
Who will enjoy it
If you like Cookie Clicker, Adventure Capitalist or other "numbers go up" games but want something calmer with a fantasy theme, Mana Spire is a good fit. A full run to the Astral Spire takes about half an hour of active play, which makes it a nice break game, and the offline earnings and perks reward checking in once or twice a day. It runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone, and it is light enough for older laptops and school Chromebooks.
About your save
Your progress is stored only in your own browser, under this site's address. We never see it and there is no account to lose. Because of that, clearing site data, using a private window or switching browsers starts you from scratch. The export code in Settings is a plain text backup you can paste back in at any time, on this device or another one.
Mana Spire FAQ
Is Mana Spire free to play?
Yes. Mana Spire is completely free, runs in your browser and needs no download, no account and no payment. There are no in-game purchases, energy timers or premium currency.
Does Mana Spire save my progress?
Yes. The game autosaves every 15 seconds and whenever you switch tabs, using your browser's local storage on games.alexai.top. Nothing is uploaded to a server. If you clear your browser data or use private browsing, the save is lost, so use Settings → Export save to keep a backup code or .txt file.
Does the tower keep earning while I'm offline?
Yes. When you come back, the game works out how long you were away and pays your staff at 50% speed for up to 8 hours. The Dream Weaving perk raises that to 100% speed for up to 24 hours.
Can I play Mana Spire on my phone?
Yes. The layout switches to tabs on small screens and the orb works with taps. For the most room, use the full-screen link below the game, or add the page to your home screen.
How do I move my save to another device or browser?
Open Settings, press Generate under Export save and copy the code (or download it as a file). On the other device, open Settings, paste the code under Import save and press Import.
When should I ascend for the first time?
As soon as the Ascend tab offers 1 Arcane Essence (2 million mana earned in the run) you can ascend, but most players get a better start by waiting until 2–3 essence. Each essence is a permanent +10% to everything, and your first perk, Arcane Memory, costs only 1.
How long does it take to finish Mana Spire?
With active clicking, Floor II usually arrives around the 8-minute mark, the first essence after about 20 minutes and Floor III after roughly half an hour. Collecting all perks and achievements takes many ascensions spread over days of idle play.
Is there sound, and can I turn it off?
There are soft sound effects for clicks, purchases and wisps. Use the speaker button in the top bar, or the switch in Settings, to mute them. The setting is saved with your game.
